This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, suitable for an afternoon trip.
Shaws Fork doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Headwaters to Liberty stretch is the only one. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. Getting your paddling muscles activated and
just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The wonderful Virginia scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great.
