county,
Route 50 to Route 7 section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS I(II) 14 miles
This section of Shenandoah River in Clarke County is 14 miles long and is a class I(II) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so better not forget that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. The put-in is not too far from Hagerstown-Martinsburg, as you can see on the road map further down. The wonderful Virginia scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. You
can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Since you're on this site you are probably into
whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers for that around here. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. The wild scenery of the Blue Ridge Mountains is great. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well.
