The scenic beauty of Alleghany County and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. The Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is wonderful. This stretch is mid length, it's perfect for a one day trip. The Truckstop to Route 60 section of Simpson Creek in Alleghany County is 6.5 miles long and is a class     II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. There are no other sections to paddle along Simpson Creek than the Truckstop to Route 60 section. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good places for that around here. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Briefly about the general area: Why not take a refreshing hike along the White Rock Tower Trail; Simpson Creek is right by the North Branch Trail. High temperatures at Simpson Creek all through the long summer days are in the 80's while night lows are generally in the 50's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 30's, and winter nights come with   lows in the 10's to Simpson Creek.
