The Truckstop to Route 60 stretch of Simpson Creek is 6.5 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations     in advance you're all set. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's perfect for a one day trip. Whitewater paddling here in the Blue Ridge Mountains is a great experience. Simpson Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Truckstop to Route 60 section is the only one. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Virginia tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. Briefly about the general area: Going for a hike along the White Rock Tower Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area, and if the weather is great, you can go for a hike along the North Branch Trail. The warmest time of the year   brings highs in the 80's to Simpson Creek. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 50's. For the period of the winter the highs are typically in the 30's, and night lows in the 10's for Simpson Creek. You truly must fancy the Blue Ridge Mountains.
