The wonderful Virginia scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Simpson Creek have people coming here. The Truckstop to Route 60 stretch of Simpson Creek is 6.5 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations
in advance you're all set. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's perfect for a one day trip. Whitewater paddling here in the Blue Ridge Mountains is a great experience. Simpson Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Truckstop to Route 60 section is the only one.
Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Virginia tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more.
