If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. The scenic beauty of Amherst County and the playfulness of the water attract people from near and far. The put-in is not too far from Staunton-Waynesboro, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. When you're paddling down a Blue Ridge
Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. This is a very short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. The Staton's Falls to Pedlar River section of Staton's Creek in Amherst County is 0.6 miles long and
it is classified as a class V section by American Whitewater. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good spots. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Staton's Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Staton's Falls to Pedlar River stretch is the only one.

about the general area: Statons Creek Falls is always fun to check out, and close by you discover Clarks Gap which is a good site to visit. And if that's not enough there's a heap more entertaining things to do in the Blue Ridge Mountains. For the duration of the summer
months highs here at Staton's Creek get into the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 60's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 40's; nighttime lows in the 20's for Staton's Creek. A common amount of rainfall falls here at Staton's Creek; of all the months in a year May is the one with the most rain, and the driest of the months is January.
