If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Virginia you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. The starting point is not too far from Staunton-Waynesboro, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This is a very short stretch so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your
car. The wild scenery of the Blue Ridge Mountains is great. The Staton's Falls to Pedlar River stretch of Staton's Creek is 0.6 miles long and is a class V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The campgrounds here at Staton's Creek are pretty good. A good workout
and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. The Staton's Falls to Pedlar River section is the only paddling section along Staton's Creek. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. The scenic beauty of Virginia and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle.
