Virginia whitewater - Stock Creek, Scott County Scott county, Natural Tunnel State Park section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II-III     1.8 miles   The nature scenery of Scott County and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The Natural Tunnel State Park section of Stock Creek is 1.8 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III section. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This is a bit of a short stretch so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. Whitewater rafting and kayaking     spots in Virginia tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so better not forget that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Briefly about the general area: Stock Creek is a wet place that gets lots of precipitation; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain, and October is the month with the least moisture. High temperatures at Stock Creek through the summer months are in the 80's; the night is slightly chillier of course,   commonly in the 60's. Daytime highs throughout the winter are in the 40's; overnight lows at Stock Creek through the winter commonly descend into the 20's.
