There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Briefly about the general area: The yearly precipitation here at Stoney Creek is about average; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain while February is commonly the driest month. On a good day at Stoney Creek you can take a hike along the Turkey Pen Ridge Trail. High temperatures at Stoney Creek through the summertime months are in the 80's. Through the moonlight hours it's regularly   in the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Stoney Creek. Everybody close by loves skiing at Wintergreen, and a glorious site to stop at nearby is Laurel Springs Gap.
