This section of Tennessee Laurel Creek in Virginia is 2.5 miles long and is a class III+(IV) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Virginia are easier than the national norm, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. in nature are great attractions for lots of people. This stretch is short so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. The Roadside Laurel stretch is the only paddling stretch along Tennessee Laurel Creek. The nature scenery of Johnson County and the sparkling of the
sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby.
Briefly about the general area: At Tennessee Laurel Creek during the warm months highs are in the 80's, and all through the night it cools down to the 50's. Highs during the winter are generally in the 40's; after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Tennessee Laurel Creek fall into the 20's. Much precipitation
falls at Tennessee Laurel Creek; the month of July is the wettest with most of the rain while November is the month with the least amount of precipitation. A great place to explore right next door to Tennessee Laurel Creek is Negro Grave Hollow, and you can go for a hike on the Clark Mountain Trail.
