If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Virginia you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so if you're not from around here don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This is a very short stretch so better bring some good walking     shoes. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. The Rt. 613 to Route 611 section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. The wonderful Russell County scenery and the cool fresh water have people coming here. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling places. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Briefly about the general area: If you're here, you might as well visit Little Tumbling Cove. Tumbling Creek is a wet site that gets a lot of precipitation; July is the wettest month with most rain while February is commonly the driest month. Summertime highs at Tumbling Creek usually tend to be in the 80's with night lows in the 60's.
