Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Virginia is often easier than elsewhere, so keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Bristol, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. Whether you're whitewater rafting or     kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. There's camping available near Tumbling Creek. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. The natural beauty of Russell County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Tumbling Creek. Summer night   lows plunge down to the 60's.
