If you're coming from Staunton-Waynesboro it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. The Nash to Tye River section of Tye River in Nelson County is 15 miles long and is a class III-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The scenic beauty of Virginia and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. If you hurry you can run this section |
in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your camping stuff too. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river,
| but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good rivers for that around here. The average Virginia whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers in this state are not very demanding. This is not the only paddling | |

section in this river system, there are others too. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp.
