The Nash to Tye River stretch of Tye River in Nelson County is 15 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III-IV section. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. The scenic     beauty of Virginia and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff. Briefly about the general area: All the water falling down from the sky makes Tye River a wet place; October is the month that gets the most rain, and January meanwhile is the driest month. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Tye River. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 60's.
