The starting point is not too far from Staunton-Waynesboro, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The beautiful scenery of Nelson County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The Above
Nash to Confluence with Tye River section of Tye River - North Fork in Virginia is 3 miles long and it is classified as a class V section by American Whitewater. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. Since you're on this site you
are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. The campgrounds here at Tye River - North Fork are pretty good. This section is quite short so better bring some good walking shoes.
