If you're coming from Staunton-Waynesboro it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This stretch of Tye River - South Fork is 3.7 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class V section. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Route 56 to Nash stretch is just one of them. The beautiful scenery of Virginia and the playfulness of the water beats anything. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good spots for that around here. This is a somewhat short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. Briefly about the general area: Wolf Hollow is a glorious location to explore; Tye River - South Fork is right by the White Rock Gap Trail. A short visit to Crabtree Falls is always worthwhile.
