Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Virginia is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are less demanding. If you're coming from Staunton-Waynesboro it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. of people coming here. This stretch of Tye River - South Fork is 3.7 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class V section. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Route 56 to Nash stretch is just one of them. The beautiful scenery
of Virginia and the playfulness of the water beats anything. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good spots for that around here. This is a somewhat short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times.
