This section of White Oak Run in Virginia is 3 miles long and is a class V+ section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The beautiful scenery of Madison County and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or     kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. There are no other sections to paddle along White Oak Run than the White Oak Fire Road to Lower White Oak Canyon Parking Lot section. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so better not forget that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. This stretch is short so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Briefly about the general area: Summertime highs at White Oak Run ordinarily tend to be in the 80's; during summer   nights temperatures are in the 60's. All through the wintertime the highs are generally in the 40's, and through the dark hours in the wintertime at White Oak Run temperatures descend to the 20's. A tremendous place near White Oak Run is Courtney Hollow, and since you're here you can take a hike along the Staunton River Trail.
