This section of Whitetop Laurel Creek in Washington/ Grayson County is 12 miles long and it is classified as a class II-IV section by American Whitewater. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Boone, as you can see on the road map further down. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. The Route 728 to Route 58 stretch is the only paddling stretch along Whitetop Laurel Creek. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the
rivers here a bit more forgiving, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very
popular destination. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more.
