Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. The wild scenery of the Northern Cascade Range is great. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the
night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states,
so keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. This stretch of American River is 7.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III+ section of whitewater. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp.
