Old Bridge to Middle Satsop section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS III-IV 1.5 miles
The nature scenery of Washington and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. The Old Bridge to Middle Satsop section of Baker Creek in Washington is 1.5 miles long and has been rated as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. If you're coming from Shelton it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The Old Bridge to Middle Satsop section is the only paddling section along Baker Creek. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this
is an area with plenty of rivers for that. The beautiful Olympic Mountains scenery is an added bonus. The campgrounds here at Baker Creek are pretty good. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping
in your car. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Washington you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. This section is quite short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here.
