The starting point is not too far from Shelton, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Washington is often tougher than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. The scenic beauty of Washington and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This stretch of Baker
Creek in Washington is 1.5 miles long and is a class III-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. The river winds through the Olympic Mountains and you get great scenery.
Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. Baker Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Old Bridge to Middle Satsop stretch is the only one. This stretch is short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.
