North Cascades National Park to Baker Lake section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS II 2.7 miles
The natural beauty of Washington and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This section of Baker River is 2.7 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II section of whitewater. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. There's camping available near Baker River. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. Baker River doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches,
the North Cascades National Park to Baker Lake stretch is the only one. The beautiful Northern Cascade Range scenery is an added bonus. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so if you're not from around here don't
forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This section is quite short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times.
