The put-in location is a short drive from Bremerton-Silverdale, as you can see on the road map further down. The Tunnel Creek to Rainbow Campground section of Big Quilcene River in Jefferson County is 2 miles long and has been rated as a class V+ section by American Whitewater. The average Washington whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so don't forget that many runs in this state are not easy. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. Since you're on
this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers. The wild scenery of the Olympic Mountains is great. This is a bit of a short stretch so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch.
A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The scenic beauty of Jefferson County and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far.
