The put-in is not too far from Bremerton-Silverdale, as you can see on the road map further down. This section of Big Quilcene River in Jefferson County is 3.2 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class IV+ section of whitewater. This stretch is short so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Rainbow Campground
to fish hatchery section is one of them. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit
harder to master in this state than those in other states, so don't forget that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers. The beautiful Olympic Mountains scenery is an added bonus. The scenic beauty of Washington and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle.
Briefly about the general area: A glorious location near Big Quilcene River is Walker Pass; if you want to check out some attention-grabbing
stuff, check out South Point. Through the summer, highs mostly are in the 60's at Big Quilcene River. Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's, and night lows in the 30's for Big Quilcene River. And that's not everything
you can do here in the Olympic Mountains. It is very dried up here at Big Quilcene River regularly; most of the rain falls throughout December, and July meanwhile is the driest month.
