This section of Bumping River in Washington is 10.5 miles long and is a class II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. The natural beauty of Washington and the water flowing
gracefully down Bumping River beats anything. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The river winds through the Northern Cascade Range and you
get great scenery. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Washington are harder than the national norm, so you'd better keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. Bumping River doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Bumping Reservoir to American River stretch is the only one.
Briefly about the general area: Near Bumping River you hit upon the Goat Creek Trail which is a glorious hiking trail; do put some time aside to spend at Soda Springs while you're here at Bumping River. Summertime highs at Bumping River generally
tend to be in the 70's. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 40's. For the period of the wintertime the highs are regularly in the 30's, and overnight lows during the winter for Bumping River tend to be in the 20's. Bumping River sees pretty high levels of precipitation;
the wettest month of the year is mostly January, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest month of the year is July. That right there is a lot of exciting stuff already but it goes on, the Northern Cascade Range has it all. Going for a hike on the Nile Ridge Trail is always a good adventure.
