Lewis
county,
along FR 5270 section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS III 2.5 miles
Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Washington are harder than the national norm, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. The wonderful Lewis County scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. This stretch of Butter Creek in Washington is 2.5 miles long and is a class III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The along FR 5270 section is the only paddling section along Butter Creek. This section is quite short so better bring some good walking
shoes. The river winds through the Northern Cascade Range and you get great scenery. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good places for that around here. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. There aren’t any hotels right
nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more.
