The average Washington whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. The starting point is not too far from Longview-Kelso, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The nature scenery of Washington and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This is a somewhat short section so it's not like you're gonna spend
hours on the river in one stretch. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Fly Creek to Merwin Reservoir section is one of them. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you
coming back for more. This section of Canyon Creek - Lewis River Tributary is 3.2 miles long and is a class IV+ section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The wild scenery of the Northern Cascade Range is great. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good rivers.
