The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Mount Vernon-Anacortes, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The nature scenery of Snohomish County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. This is a very short stretch so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on

Tributary is 1.3 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class IV-V section of whitewater. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby.
