Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The beautiful scenery of Washington and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The Slate Creek to Granite Creek section of Canyon Creek - Skagit Tributary is 6.7 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class IV-V section. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The nearby hotels are a bit away from
the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The Slate Creek to Granite Creek stretch is the only paddling stretch along Canyon Creek - Skagit Tributary. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either
way in this general area you won't find many other paddling places. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. This stretch is mid length, you can easily run it on an afternoon. The beautiful Northern Cascade Range scenery is an added bonus.
