The scenic beauty of Washington and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The average Washington whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. of Carbon River in Pierce County is 9 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II section. There's camping available near Carbon River. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better
reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip.
Briefly about the general area: During the summer months, highs ordinarily are in the 70's at Carbon River. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 50's. During the winter highs are in the 40's, and overnight lows at Carbon River during the winter
ordinarily descend into the 30's. Carbon River gets a normal amount of yearly rainfall; most of the rain falls throughout November; the driest month of the year is July.
