The beautiful scenery of Washington and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. This stretch of Chehalis River in Lewis County is 6 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II section of whitewater. The Olympic Mountains scenery is wonderful. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Pe Ell to Doty section is just one of them. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. On this section
you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find
lots of paddling rivers. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving.

days of summer, highs ordinarily are in the 70's at Chehalis River. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 50's. For the period of the winter the highs are mostly in the 40's; nighttime lows at Chehalis River through the winter frequently dip into the 30's.
