The Pe Ell to Doty stretch of Chehalis River in Lewis County is 6 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II section. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. The beauty of the Olympic Mountains is a great plus for this river. The average Washington whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so don't forget that many runs in this     state are not easy. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, you can easily run it on an afternoon. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
