If you're coming from Centralia it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. The wonderful Washington scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Rainbow Falls to Meeskill stretch is just one of them. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby.
This is a bit of a short stretch so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. The wild scenery of the Olympic Mountains is great. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. If you've been whitewater rafting and
kayaking outside Washington you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. The Rainbow Falls to Meeskill stretch of Chehalis River is 3.2 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II section of whitewater.
