The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Centralia, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The scenic beauty of Washington and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers. Whitewater paddling here in the Olympic Mountains is a great experience. This is a bit of a short stretch so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. For all you
camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because
these hotels fill up quick. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Rainbow Falls to Meeskill section is just one of many. This stretch of Chehalis River is 3.2 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II section. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners.
