Washington whitewater - Chelan River, Chelan County Chelan county, Lake Chelan to Columbia River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS IV-V     4 miles   The Lake Chelan to Columbia River section of Chelan River is 4 miles long and it is classified as a class IV-V section by American Whitewater. The put-in is not too far from Wenatchee, as you can see on the road map further down. The natural beauty of Chelan County and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's perfect for a one day trip. There's camping available near Chelan River. There are some good hotels near the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up     sleeping in your car. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. This is the only paddling stretch along Chelan River. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a pretty small number of paddling rivers. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Washington are often more challenging than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. Briefly about the general area: A spree to North Beebe Spring will fill your spirit with fine feelings, and what would winter be without some skiing at Echo Valley. Not much rainfall falls here at Chelan River; the month of December is the wettest with most of the snow, and July is the month with the least moisture. For the period   of the months of summer at Chelan River temperatures are regularly in the 80's with overnight lows in the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's with temperatures at Chelan River dipping down into the 20's during winter nights. The beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Beebe Springs, and Chelan River is near Daybreak Canyon which is positively worth taking a look at. This is a great river.
