This section of Chewuch River in Washington is 8 miles long and is a class II+(IV) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Lodging is available near the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. The Five Mile Bridge to Winthrop section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system.     Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Washington are harder than the national norm, so you'd better keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip. The beauty of the Northern Cascade Range is a great plus for this river. Briefly about the general area: Summertime highs at Chewuch River frequently tend to be in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 50's. All through the wintertime the highs are frequently in the 20's, and night lows at Chewuch River during the wintertime usually sink into the 10's.   Chewuch River gets very little precipitation; December is the month that gets the most snow while July is usually the driest month.
