Washington whitewater, Cispus River

Lewis county, Goat Creek to FR 2160 section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS V     4 miles
The Goat Creek to FR 2160 section of Cispus River is 4 miles long and it is classified as a class V section by American Whitewater. The beautiful scenery of Lewis County and the water flowing gracefully down Cispus River are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The beauty of the Northern Cascade Range is a great plus for this river. A good workout and a chance to
spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty
of rivers for that. There arenít any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Washington are harder than the national norm, so you'd better keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. The put-in location is a short drive from Hood River, there's a road map further down the page with
more info on that. This stretch is mid length, suitable for an afternoon trip.

Briefly about the general area:
Have a splendid hiking adventure along the Lily Basin Trail, and hey, Gotta ski right? White Pass is a fine location to do that. Yeah, come up here to the Northern Cascade Range for a fine time. While you're here at Cispus River you can take a hike along the Pacific Crest Trail - section 24. Cispus River gets a great deal of water. Of all the months in a year January is the one with the most snow while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
