CLASS III+(IV) 9.5 miles
Hello I was coming up to stay at Paradise Creek with my son. I have a two seater kayak that I want to use, Where is a good place to go that has calm water? Any help would be great . Thanks Says Rick Green
The beautiful scenery of Washington and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. The FR 23 Bridge to FR 28 Bridge section of Cispus River is 9.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III+(IV) section of whitewater. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.
You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. Great
exercise and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip. Whitewater paddling here in the Northern Cascade Range is a great experience. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the FR 23 Bridge to FR 28 Bridge stretch is just one of them. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Washington you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so better not forget that the rivers in this state are less
manageable.
Briefly about the general area: Have a brilliant hiking adventure along the Klickitat Trail; going for a hike along the Pompey Peak Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity. High temperatures at Cispus River through the summer are in
the 70's. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 40's. All through the wintertime highs are commonly in the 30's, and after the sun is down throughout the winter temperatures at Cispus River plunge into the 20's. Cispus River is a wet place that gets
much precipitation; the month with most of the snow is December while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. So much amusing stuff in the Northern Cascade Range, just mind-boggling.
