This stretch of Cispus River in Lewis County is 9.5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III+(IV) section. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Washington is often more difficult than elsewhere, so better not forget that rivers here are less forgiving. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short
distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the FR 23 Bridge to FR 28 Bridge
section is just one of many. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots. When you're paddling down a Northern Cascade Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The wonderful Lewis County scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip.
Briefly about the general area: Good
hiking is available along the Klickitat Trail, and there's great hiking along the Pompey Peak Trail. Much precipitation falls at Cispus River; the wettest month of the year is usually December, that's the one that snows the most while July is commonly the driest month. For the
duration of the warm months at Cispus River temperatures are mostly in the 70's, and during the night it cools down to the 40's. For the period of the winter this place gets highs in the 30's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Cispus River drop into the 20's. These mountains rock, just explore all the fun stuff to do in the Northern Cascade Range.
