If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Washington you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The beautiful scenery of Kittitas County and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. The Scatter Creek to Salmon La Sac Creek section of Cle Elum River in Kittitas County is 8.5 miles long and has been rated as a class IV-V section by American Whitewater. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river
for a while will make you glad you came. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. When you're paddling down a Northern Cascade Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't
matter, this area has a large number of paddling rivers. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Scatter Creek to Salmon La Sac Creek section is one of them. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, good for a one day paddling trip. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.

here at Cle Elum River, you can go for a hike along the Jolly Mountain Lookout Trail. High temperatures at Cle Elum River through the warm days of summer are in the 60's, and the night is quite chillier of course, generally in the 40's. The winter brings highs down to the 20's,
and through the dark hours in the wintertime at Cle Elum River temperatures plunge to the 10's. Going for a hike along the Davis Peak Lookout Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region; some interesting geology is available here, China Point is right here.
Cle Elum River is a pretty wet place mostly with a good deal of rain; the month of January is the wettest with most of the snow while July is typically the driest month.
