CLASS II     4 miles
  This section of Cle Elum River in Washington is 4 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II section of whitewater. The nature scenery of Kittitas County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Salmon La Sac Creek to Cle Elum Reservoir section is one of them. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher
    than in other states, so don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The Northern Cascade
Range scenery is wonderful. This stretch is mid length, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby.

Briefly about the general area:
Cle Elum River is a wet site that gets much rainfall; the month of January is the wettest with most of the snow; July is when it's the driest. So many exciting things to do here in the Northern Cascade
 
Range, too wonderful to be true. Salmon la Sac is always fun to check out, and going for a hike along the Red Mountain Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood.
At Cle Elum River through the summer highs are in the 60's. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 40's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 20's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Cle Elum River. Little Salmon la Sac is a great local attraction; China Point is something you shouldn't miss if you're here. This river has it all. While you're here at Cle Elum River you can take a hike along the Davis Peak Lookout Trail.
