The beautiful scenery of Washington and the cool fresh water beats anything. Whitewater paddling here in the Northern Cascade Range is a great experience. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. The Cle Elum Dam to confluence with Yakima River stretch     of Cle Elum River in Washington is 7.8 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II section of whitewater. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Briefly about the general area: You'll really wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the entertaining things   in the Northern Cascade Range. Much precipitation falls at Cle Elum River; the wettest month of the year is ordinarily January, that's the one that snows the most, and the driest of the months is July. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Cle Elum River; Hicks Butte Trail is a splendid local trail, and why not take a refreshing hike along the North Fork Taneum Trail. For the period of the summer months here at Cle Elum River, high temperatures usually get into the 60's while night lows are usually in the 40's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Cle Elum River are in the 10's.
