The put-in is not too far from Port Angeles, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The Upper Clearwater Road access to Clearwater Campground stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's perfect for a one day     trip. The beautiful Olympic Mountains scenery is an added bonus. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good rivers for that around here. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. The campgrounds here at Clearwater River are pretty good. Briefly about the general area: Clearwater River gets a great deal of water; the month with   most of the rain is December, and August is the month with the least moisture. Summer at Clearwater River arrives with high temperatures in the 70's while night lows are ordinarily in the 40's. Throughout the wintertime highs are usually in the 40's, and night lows through the winter for Clearwater River tend to be in the 30's.
