This stretch of Clearwater River in Washington is 10.5 miles long and is a class II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The starting point is not too far from Port Angeles, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The beauty of the Olympic Mountains is a great plus for this river. This section has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so why not pack your camping stuff too.
The campgrounds here at Clearwater River are pretty good. The natural beauty of Jefferson County and the water flowing gracefully down Clearwater River are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The Clearwater Campground to 144 Gross Bridge stretch is one of a few paddling stretches
in this river system. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Washington is often more difficult than elsewhere, so keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good places. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people.

December is the one with the most rain; the driest month of the year is August. It's always great to take a look at Crooks Rapids. Through the long summer days at Clearwater River temperatures are typically in the 70's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. Throughout the winter this place gets highs in the 40's; winter nights come with lows in the 30's to Clearwater River.
