The beautiful scenery of Jefferson County and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This stretch of Clearwater River in Jefferson County is 11.5 miles long and it is classified as a class II section by American Whitewater. The average Washington whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very
popular destination. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby
campground. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. The wild scenery of the Olympic Mountains is great.
Briefly about the general area: Summertime highs at Clearwater River generally tend to be in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 40's. Highs throughout the winter are commonly in the 40's; after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Clearwater River
dip into the 30's. If you like the outdoors you'll like it here in the Olympic Mountains. Parson Rapids is a great local attraction, and Barker Rapids is a beautiful location to explore while you're at Clearwater River. Clearwater River sees pretty high levels of rain; the month of December is the wettest with most of the rain while August is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
