This section of Clearwater River in Washington is 11.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II section of whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so better not forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so pack your camping stuff. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors
will make you glad you came. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The Olympic Mountains scenery is wonderful. You might have to settle for
a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the 144 Gross Bridge to Queets River stretch is one of them.
Briefly about the general area: Clearwater River is a wet site that gets a large amount of rainfall; the wettest month of the year is ordinarily December, that's the one that rains the most while August is the month with the least amount of precipitation. High temperatures at Clearwater
River all through the days of summer are in the 70's. Summer nighttime lows dip down to the 40's. Highs during the winter are ordinarily in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 30's to Clearwater River. So many fun things to do here in the Olympic Mountains, too
