The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. The beautiful scenery of Washington and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This section is quite short so better bring some good walking shoes. Great exercise and just being out on
the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Cooper River doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Waterfall to Cle Elum River stretch is the
only one. When you're paddling down a Northern Cascade Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. The Waterfall to Cle Elum River section of Cooper River is 1.5 miles long and is a class IV-V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater.
Briefly about the general area: There's no way someone can get bored here in the Northern Cascade Range. A short spree to Salmon la Sac is always worthwhile, and going for a hike along the Red Mountain Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood. A spree to Cooper
River wouldn't be complete without taking a look at Little Salmon la Sac, and if the weather is nice, you can go for a hike along the Davis Peak Lookout Trail. Throughout the summer months, highs generally are in the 60's at Cooper River with nighttime lows in the 40's. Daytime
highs during the winter are in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Cooper River are in the 10's. This river has it all. Cooper River is a relatively wet place mostly with a lot of rainfall; January is the month that gets the most snow while July is mostly the driest month.
