The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Washington are often tougher than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. The Waterfall to Cle Elum River section of Cooper River in Washington is 1.5 miles long and is a class IV-V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll
have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This stretch is short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking,
either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. Cooper River doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Waterfall to Cle Elum River section is the only one. The beautiful Northern Cascade Range scenery is an added bonus. The nature scenery of Kittitas County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here.
Briefly about the general area: High temperatures at Cooper River all through the warmest time of the year are in the 60's. Throughout the moonlight hours it's ordinarily in the 40's.
The wintertime comes with highs in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Cooper River are in the 10's. Put some time aside to spend at Salmon la Sac if you're here at Cooper River, and don't leave Cooper River without first going for a hike along the Davis Peak Lookout Trail.
Just can't get enough of the Northern Cascade Range. Little Salmon la Sac is always fun to check out, and there are glorious sites to look at along the Red Mountain Trail. A lot of rain falls at Cooper River; the month of January is the wettest with most of the snow, and July is when it's the driest. This river is so great.
