The nature scenery of Washington and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. The Cispus River to Riffe Lake stretch is the only paddling stretch along Cowlitz River. This stretch of Cowlitz River is 9 miles long and has been rated as a class III section by American Whitewater. Getting some good exercise     and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The campgrounds here at Cowlitz River are pretty good. Whitewater paddling here in the Northern Cascade Range is a great experience. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, good for a one day paddling trip. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good places. Briefly about the general area: All through the months of summer highs here at Cowlitz River get into the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 40's. All through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 40's, and nighttime lows at Cowlitz River all through   the winter typically fall into the 30's. Cowlitz River gets a lot of water; the month of December is the wettest with most of the rain, and July on the other hand is the driest.
