This stretch has has enough mileage, it's perfect for a one day trip. The beautiful Northern Cascade Range scenery is an added bonus. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Washington are often more challenging than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. Not too many hotels nearby,     you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This stretch of Cowlitz River - Clear Fork in Lewis County is 5 miles long and it is classified as a class V+ section by American Whitewater. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. Ayance Canyon   is a great site to spend some time at, and there are nice locations to discover along the Three Peaks Trail. Just can't get enough of the Northern Cascade Range. You simply have to stop by Palisades if you're here at Cowlitz River - Clear Fork; don't leave Cowlitz River - Clear Fork without first going for a hike along the Backbone Ridge Trail. Cowlitz River - Clear Fork is a relatively wet place typically with a good deal of precipitation; most of the snow falls all through January, and the driest month is July. This river is so perfect.
