This stretch of Cowlitz River - Muddy Fork in Lewis County is 5 miles long and it is classified as a class V section by American Whitewater. The nature scenery of Lewis County and the playfulness of the water attract people from near and far. When you're paddling down a Northern Cascade Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.
You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good places for that around here. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. This stretch is mid length, suitable for an afternoon
trip. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Washington tend to be more challenging than the national average, so better not forget that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here.
