The Blair Road to Skagit River section of Day Creek in Washington is 5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV-V(V+) section. The wonderful Washington scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Day Creek have people coming here. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The rivers for whitewater rafting
and kayaking here in Washington are often tougher than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. There are no other sections to paddle along Day Creek than the Blair Road to Skagit River section. Since you're
on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. The starting location is a short drive from Mount Vernon-Anacortes, as you can see on the road map further down. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. The beautiful Northern Cascade Range scenery is an added bonus.
Briefly about the general area: At Day Creek during the warm months highs are in the 70's while overnight lows are frequently in the 50's. Daytime highs through
the winter are in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Day Creek are in the 30's. If you would like a little side tour, try Rocky Canyon. The high level of rain makes Day Creek a pretty wet place; the month with most of the rain is November while July is commonly the driest month.
