Washington whitewater - Day Creek, Northern Cascade Range, Skagit County

Skagit county, Blair Road to Skagit River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS IV-V(V+)     5 miles
This section of Day Creek in Skagit County is 5 miles long and is a class IV-V(V+) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The put-in is not too far from Mount Vernon-Anacortes, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The natural beauty of Skagit County and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because
these hotels fill up quick. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Washington is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this
area has a large number of paddling places. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. Day Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Blair Road to Skagit River section is the only one. The Northern Cascade Range scenery is wonderful. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp.
