The starting location is a short drive from Centralia, as you can see on the road map further down. The scenic beauty of Washington and the cool fresh water beats anything. There are no other sections to paddle along Deschutes River than the Vail Loop Road to Military Road section. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. If     you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. Whitewater paddling here in the Northern Cascade Range is a great experience. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good places. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. On this section you do get some distance, good for a one day paddling trip. The campgrounds here at Deschutes River are pretty good. Briefly about the general area: The high level of rain makes Deschutes River a quite wet place; throughout December this area sees the most rain, and the driest of the months is July. At   Deschutes River throughout the summer months highs are in the 70's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 40's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's, and all through the dark hours in the winter at Deschutes River temperatures fall to the 30's.
