II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Deschutes River doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Vail Loop Road to Military Road stretch is the only one. The river winds through the Northern Cascade Range and you get great scenery. This stretch has has enough
mileage, it's good length for a morning trip. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here.
