If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. Whitewater paddling here in the Olympic Mountains is a great experience. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people.     The Dosewallips Falls to Elkhorn Campground stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. The scenic beauty of Washington and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This is a bit of a short stretch so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This stretch of Dosewallips River in Jefferson County is 3 miles long and is a class V+ section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Briefly about the general area: At Dosewallips River you don’t see much precipitation;   most of the rain falls all through December, and July is when it's the driest.
