The average Washington whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. This section of Dosewallips River in Jefferson County is 5.2 miles long and has been rated as a class III-IV+ section by American Whitewater. The wonderful Washington scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Dosewallips River are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The Olympic Mountains scenery is wonderful. This is one of
a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. If you're coming from Shelton it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. If you're a camper you can camp at one of
the great campgrounds nearby. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's good length for a morning trip. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling spots.
