This stretch of Dosewallips River in Jefferson County is 6.5 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The Six Mile Bridge to Dosewallips State Park stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. The put-in is not too far from Shelton, if you're not familiar with the area     there's a road map further down the page. The wonderful Washington scenery and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here. The campgrounds here at Dosewallips River are pretty good. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The wild scenery of the Olympic Mountains is great. Briefly about the general area: Hiking is a popular thing to do around Dosewallips River; Mount Jupiter Trail is a brilliant local trail.
