The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Shelton, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The average Washington whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The wild scenery of the Olympic Mountains is great. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip. Highway 101 section of Duckabush River is 6.2 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class IV section. The beautiful scenery of Jefferson County and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are
sure to keep you coming back for more. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Duckabush River doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the 2515 Bridge to Highway 101 section is the only one. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling rivers.

July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Summertime at Duckabush River arrives with high temperatures in the 60's while night lows are frequently in the 50's. Through the winter highs are typically in the 40's, and all through the dark hours in the winter at Duckabush
River temperatures descend to the 30's. Near Duckabush River you come across the Mount Jupiter Trail which is a good hiking trail.
