The Mills Reservoir to Highway 101 section of Elwha River in Clallam County is 4.5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-III(IV) section. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Port Angeles, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The beautiful scenery of Washington and the water flowing gracefully down Elwha River will make you feel great. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. You might be into
whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good places for that around here. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Mills Reservoir to Highway 101 section is one of them. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature
will have you coming back for more. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. When you're paddling down a Olympic Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. This stretch is mid length, it's good length for a morning trip. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy.

let you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity. Elwha River is a pretty wet place regularly with a large amount of rain; December is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month is July. All through the warmest time of the year at Elwha River temperatures are
generally in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 50's. Daytime highs throughout the wintertime are in the 40's; overnight lows in the 30's for Elwha River.
