The put-in location is a short drive from Port Angeles, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The nature scenery of Washington and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Whether you're whitewater     rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Aldwell Reservoir to river mouth section is one of them. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so better not forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. This stretch is mid length, it's perfect for a one day trip. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. The beauty of the Olympic Mountains is a great plus for this river. There's camping available near Elwha River. Briefly about the general area: At Elwha River during the warm days of summer highs are in the 70's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 50's. For the period   of the winter highs are in the 40's with winter lows in the 30's overnight here at Elwha River. Elwha River is a wet place that gets much precipitation; during December this area sees the most rain; the driest month of the year is July. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Olympic Mountains. Not far from Elwha River you stumble on Angeles Point; Olympic National Park is a glorious national park.
