This section of Foss River is 4.9 miles long and is a class IV+ section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The beautiful scenery of King County and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This is a pretty decent length section, you can easily run it on an afternoon. This is the only paddling section along Foss River. A good workout and just
hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Washington tend to be more challenging than the national average, so don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving. The river winds through the Northern Cascade
Range and you get great scenery. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places.
Briefly about the general area: Foss River gets a good deal of water; the month of December is the wettest with most of the rain while July is commonly the driest month. Summertime highs at Foss River regularly tend to be in the 70's. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Foss River drop into the 30's. You can never get enough of the good skiing at Stephens Pass.
